Vice President of Survey and Mapping
As Vice President of Survey and Mapping Division, Mr. Richard J. Ewing brings a wide array of expertise to lead our survey team. As a Professional Surveyor and Mapper, he has over 24 years of experience, 19 years of which have been with Coastal Engineering Consultants, Inc. Mr. Ewing specializes in surveying services for municipal agencies which include State land acquisition boundary surveys, appraisal mapping using aerial photography, and hydrographic surveys. Mr. Ewing's project experience also includes work in the private sector providing residential and commercial boundary surveys and construction stake-out services as well as the platting of numerous large subdivisions. These projects are under his direction from the initial boundary survey to the layout of residential and commercial lots and include coordination with State/County agency staff throughout the review process until the final recording of each plat.
Mr. Ewing is proficient in the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) Real Time Kinetics (RTK) to perform marine survey services. He has personally surveyed numerous miles of shoreline with this equipment for the establishment of Erosion Control Line (ECL) plats and mean high water; hydrographic; coastal construction control line surveys which are involved with Beach Renourishment Profiling, Navigation Channel Design, and Environmental Surveys.
Currently, Mr. Ewing is involved with the survey layout and as-built drawings of two large Water Treatment Plants located in Collier County. His duties include coordination with the County's Contractor, review of design plans, scheduling of timely as-built drawings during the construction phase, and compiling final record drawings for the County to use for upcoming plant expansion projects.
Prior to joining Coastal Engineering Consultants, Inc., Mr. Ewing was Survey Senior Crew Chief with a firm located in Birmingham, Alabama. His responsibilities included scheduling and coordinating survey crews, performing sectional boundary surveys, and construction staking for large residential projects.
